Ten Random Things

I have been taggen by Diane to share ten random things about me. Wow. Ten is a lot, but here goes.

1. I legally changed my name. Just because I wanted to and the one I was given never felt like it was really me.
2. Though I think I have had more than my share of jobs,I have never been a waitress.
3. I taught myself to play the piano by ear when I was five.
4. I actually was in the convent twice.
5. I didn't get my driver's license till I was 22.
6. I almost drowned in Chesapeake Bay in a sailboat mishap.
7. I used to play the violin
8. I am the first person in my immediate family to attend college
9. I still pinch myself to see if I am dreaming about being ordained
10. I have had a cello in my closet for four years that I plan to learn to play...soon.

Whew! That was was fun but I'm too tired to tag, so play if you wish and leave me a comment to let me know so I can come read them!

How interesting you are! To teach yourself to play the piano when you were 5--wow! And to actually be in convents twice and end up being a priest. Like you, I am the first person in my immediate family to go to college.

Dare I ask what your name used to be?

I think I'll be mysterious, Kate!

Separated at birth, that's us ;-)
Though I've always been Kathryn, Kate was the diminutive I preferred when growing up,- sadly I could only persuade one adult to adopt it so it never stuck...our "snaps" are numbers 2,3,8,9 and (more or less) 10. With me, the cello sits by the piano and I need to recover it, rather than start from scratch...I played it rather badly till age 18, when I decided that I would prefer to be known as a good singer rather than a bad cellist. Bought a rather battered student instrument 3 years ago now, with every intention of starting to play but somehow life has intervened...I will if you will...

ok, I was here last night but my computer froze up. I wanted to say I loved your list, and especially one: re you name, and 10, re the cello. There has to be a story there!

Awesome list!

RC convent, Anglican, or both, if I may ask?

RevDrKate said...

ML, both were RC. The second time only lasted a week. There are blog posts in there for someday!

Hee! Your right, fellow Kate.

Oh, do I feel silly--not only did I read it but I commented, and then forgot the whole thing till Maggie reminded me.

One week--wow. Please do share more of the stories someday.
